The news went around in the sport world that blind footballers besieged the Ministry of Sport and Physical Education (Minsep) in Yaoundé on Wednesday 21 September.

Well, we can say they indeed found the way to the offices of Minsep, Bidoung Mkpatt. There were about ten of them demanding their bonuses won at the end of the Cecifoot African Cup of Nations in October 2015. It is a competition for visually challenged footballers and which pitted teams from 6 African countries against each other.

On 25 October, the Cameroonian team lost the final against Morocco (2-0). “Impressed by our journey, the President of the Republic had given instructions for us to receive FCfa 22 million in bonus”, explains Norbert Tsoungui, President of the Cameroonian Sports Federation for the visually impaired (Fecasdev).

But since 2015, nothing has been done. No funds have released by the Ministry of Finance for the visually impaired footballers. Challenges linked to the new school year clearly caught up with the sportsmen who renewed their claim. They finally went back home with new promises from the Ministry...
