Some even affirm that bribing employees of the embassy or consulate would help facilitate the process.

“Some believe that an applicant must necessary know someone at the embassy or the consulate before obtaining a visa”. This post of the US embassy on its official Facebook page attests of the opinion of many about the process to obtain a US visa.

Along its post, the diplomatic representation denied the statement. “Qualities of applicants – as presented in visa application and interview – as well as American law, are the only criteria on which visa provision is based,” the embassy said.

The diplomatic representation which is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital, further recalled that US legislation forbids employees of the embassy and consulate from “providing any kind of unofficial aid to visa applicants”. All information related to the process is available online, on the embassy’s website, it adds highlighting that bribing these employees is also forbidden.
