It appears that they are coming from  across the country for a sit-in in Yaoundé. True ?

About one hundred teachers being integrated into the civil service, marched this Monday 27 March on the Ministry of Finance, in Yaoundé. Together they form the « Collective of Indignant Teachers of Cameroon ». They therefore dropped the chalk stick to demand their their salary promised since they left the teacher training school ; it is 3, 4, 5 years ago for some. Most of them were at the teacher training college (Ecole Normale Supérieure - ENS), of the technical teachers training school (Ecole Normale Supérieure de l’Enseignement Technique - Enset) and had been posted to high schools, colleges and universities in the country.

To help explain their situation, one of them relates: September 2016: my salary has been stopped; I would say confiscated. I went to enquire at the Ministry of Secondary Education. Reason given, duplicate employee number and unfortunate suspension of salaries of some teachers this month. Then at the Ministry of Finance. Reason given: we do not deal with teachers here, go and see your ministry (that of Education, Ed. note). […] Dear colleagues I am indignant, he concludes.

NoPayNoSchool

The representatives of the Collective had a meeting scheduled on Monday with the Minister of Finance followed by another with the Minister of Secondary Education. A salary that we should have received one month after our leaving the training school, we find ourselves 4 or 5 years without salary. Tell us what the problem is”, tosses Jack Bessala, spokesperson for the Collective of Indignant Teachers of Cameroon. Their battle is detailed on their Facebook page entitled #NoPayNoSchool
