A list of candidates who would like to succeed the current coach of the Cameroon’s national football team is being speculated on the internet. On that list, there is the name of French coach Pierre Lechantre who coached the team between 1999 and 2001. Though the report could be said to be untrue as the list of candidacy is preferably kept secret by FECAFOOT, could it really be the case that Pierre Lechantre would want to coach the Indomitable lions again ?
He is reported to have expressed interest in the Job some two weeks ago, according to a journalist who is also a friend to the former cameroon football team coach.
It is however important to note that the call for application to replace Hugo Broos (sacked in December 2017) was launched on March 9, 2018 and the deadline for the application was scheduled for March 24 hence Pierre Lechantre has every reason to try his luck.
Indeed, his contract with his Tanzanian club Simba SC will expire in June 2018. In a recent interview with Francefootball, the coach intimated that as his contract is due to expire in June,he would want to continue with an African football team in the up coming AFCON scheduled for 2019.
