It seems that the price per metric cube of water has not been set in rural areas.

The price per 10 liters of pump water depends on the area you are living in Cameroon. People used to say this and during the cabinet council on May 31, 2018, the minister of water Gaston Eloundou Essomba confirmed the fact. He revealed that in rural areas, the price is not set; it could vary from CFA5 to CFA10 per 10 liters.

He further explained that in those areas, the price of water is high because the water infrastructures there are namely boreholes and private infrastructures.

Let’s remind that in urban areas, water prices are regulated. For individual clients, it is CFA293 per metric cube (not subject to VAT tax if the consumption is less than 10 m3). If the consumption is higher than 10 m3, the tariff is CFA264  per metric cube. As for administrative and communal clients, it is CFA382 per metric cube. For the paying standpipes, the metric cube is CFA293.

Industrial clients have 5 different tariffs and it can vary from CFA322 to CFA382 per metric cube.
