The news went quickly around. The former captain of the Indomitable Lions had a stroke. He is even about to be evacuated to France.

The ex-captain of the Indomitable Lions has been at the Emergency Centre of Yaoundé (CUY in French) following a cerebrovascular accident (stroke). “He is in a stationary state”, Dr Louis Jos Bitang, Director of CUY, confided when called this morning.

However, contrary to what is being said, the former defender has not yet been evacuated to France. But the Minister of Public Health as well as other personalities are working hard to achieve this. “The evacuation procedure has started. If all formalities are completed, Song Bahanag will be evacuated this Monday evening or tomorrow Tuesday; Dr Bitang informs. We want it to happen quickly”, adds the doctor.

In the meantime, prayers and words of encouragement for “Magnan” have increased on social networks. This is not the first time that the current manager of the Indomitable Lions was the subject or rumours later found to be untrue.

This time, for those who are still doubting, Martin Camus Mimb, sports journalist and Managing Director of Radio Sport Infos (in Douala) expressed his support for his friend on Facebook. Like his former team member, Samuel Eto’o Fils wrote: “I wish you a lot of courage and speedy recovery, big brother”.

In a show of sympathy, a lady commented that she holds “the medicine that can cure him”. For her, it is surely time to resort to cowrie shells. For his fans, the charismatic “captain-courage” (he was captain of the football team during 10 years) will escape unharmed from this “silent killer”, the stroke.
