It is true, Hermes drew its collection “Ndop” from the traditional Cameroonian scarf Ndop.
Indeed on the section which relates the story of the design, the brand explains that it drew from the Jean Félicien Gacha foundation.
The renowned brand was notably inspired by the designs on the traditional fabric. Also, the main artwork represents the Bamiléké mask used during royal ceremonies. There is also the design which represents the huts present on the traditional tissu of Jukun people from Wukari Tabara in Nigéria. All these illustrations highlight the beauty of the scarfs.
There are nine colours in the collection “Ndop” and the scarf is sold at €360 ( about CFA235,800) on the brands website.
