Rumors have it that during the current national campaign, people need to pay between CFA1,000 and CFA2,000 to get the nets. Is it true?

From February 15 to 24, 2019, agents commissioned by the ministry of health will go through Yaoundé’s neighbourhood in the framework of a national impregnated mosquito nets distribution program. The agents will identify households before the proper distribution. However, there is a rumor according to which households will have to pay between CFA1,000 and CFA2,000.

The health ministry indicates that this is false. It explains that the campaign is done in two phases: the households’ identification and the proper distribution. “During the identification phase, the enumerators, identifiable thanks to their badge, will come to your homes from February 15-24, 2019 between 7 AM and 6 PM. They will give you a ticket allowing you to get the nets at no cost”, the health ministry reveals.

Citizens are invited to warmly welcome enumerators by giving them information on the number of people living in their households, their names and the name and contact of the head of the household. “Be sure to keep the tickets to be able to get the nets”, the ministry stresses.
