Some malicious individuals inform foreign companies that they should pay that fictitious department to get import or export licenses in Cameroon.

The French embassy in Cameroon raised the alarm about some individuals using the name and the headings of the Cameroonian chamber of commerce, industry, and mines CCIMA to extort money from victims, expatriates most of the times.

The embassy reveals that those scammers claim to be agents of the chamber of commerce working at the permit office (that does not exist). They then require money from the foreign companies for import/export licenses they say is the main condition to invest in Cameroon.

There is no permit office at the CCIMA. There is rather the budget commitment office, the accounting, the staff management, the procurement and supply departments. All those departments depend on the economic research department.
