The managing director of Cameroon's customs is organizing a contest to recruit young Cameroonians...or so claims a statement that is shared on social networks.
According to this statement, Fongod Edwin Nuvaga (the customs official) asked potential recruits to pay XAF14,500 as application fees before November 10, 2019, which was the deadline to submit the applications. The communiqué further adds that additional information can be obtained on www.cameroon-today.cm or on WhatsApp via the following number: +237 691 796 438
While the announcement may seem legit, it appears to be a scam. Indeed, in an attempt to send money to this number, it comes out that it is not registered; a quite suspicious occurrence for such a formal announcement.
To close the matter, Nuvaga himself denied the information saying: Organizing administrative contests is exclusively done by the ministry of public works and administrative reforms. He then cautioned people to be more vigilant against such scams. As for those who used his name for criminal purposes, the official warned that appropriate legal actions will be taken.
