Following the resignation of Joël Nana Kontchou as Managing Director of the power utility Eneo, rumors have been circulating that there will be a wave of layoffs. In an interview published on the company’s website, the new CEO, Eric Mansuy, denied the rumor saying “there will be no layoffs.”
“We will take a very close look at human resources management, and instead proceed with a redeployment that takes into account the company's challenges. These include, among others, the rejuvenation of the staff as many aging workers will retire, diversity, empowerment of women, etc.” In a word, there will be no layoffs, but rather a redeployment of staff.
With an estimated workforce of 3,700 employees and a portfolio of more than 1.5 million customers, Eneo Cameroon is a public-private partnership company that produces and distributes energy in Cameroon.
