The opposition party Univers has nominated him to help him bypass the tedious task of gathering 300 signatures from officials of a certain standing in Cameroon if he is an independent candidate.

The candidature of Cabral Libii, coordinator of the movement 11 millions de citoyens pour l’élection présidentielle, for the 2018 presidential election is being speculated by the citizens.

On social media, some people claim that because he likes to be free, he can’t join a party to run for the coming presidential elections of October.

However on February 3, 2018, Prosper Nkou Mvondo, president of the opposition party Univers announced that his party supports the candidature of Cabral Libii Li Ngue, national coordinator of the movement 11 millions de citoyens pour l’élection présidentielle.

The party said that it was ready to support the candidate in the different steps involved in the election, such as primaries or any activities that represent the will of the people.

To understand this initiative, people should refer to article 121 of the electoral code. This article prescribes that every candidate to the presidential election should be supported by a political party represented in the national assembly, the Senate, the regional council or a municipal council.

It is also stipulated that if a person was to run as an independent candidate, he has to collect the signatures of 300 officials from all the regions in Cameroon ( 30 signatures per region) ; Those officials must also be regional or municipal councilors, members of the parliament or of a consular chamber or a first class traditional ruler , which makes the process a tedious one.
