The age limit has been changed thanks to a derogatory measure by the head of state Paul Biya.

Since November 13, 2018, when the recruitment of 2,000 university lecturers was announced in Cameroon, there has been various rumors.

As far as the age limit is concerned, some people assert that the age limit to apply for civil service in Cameroon is 35 years but, in this case, this is false.

Jacques Fame Ndongo (photo), the minister of higher education explains that "this is a special recruitment. The application of a derogatory measure raising the age limit from 35 years to 45 years has been prescribed.”

The special recruitment was instructed by the head of state Paul Biya. It is open to Cameroonians residing in the country or abroad. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. For this recruitment, even civil servants who hold the mentioned degree can apply.

The 2000 lecturers will be gradually deployed in public universities within three years starting in the 2019 fiscal year. 1000 in 2019, 500 in 2020 and the remaining in 2021.
