Yes, CCA-Bank has stopped collecting daily savings in Cameroon

Since it became a bank last year, Crédit Communautaire d'Afrique (CCA) can no more perform some activities it used to as a microfinance institution

Pretending to be agents of the Cameroonian bank, Crédit Communautaire d’Afrique (CCA-Bank), some people collect money from sellers in various markets on behalf of the former microfinance institution. Beware as this is a scam!

In a statement released on 23 January 2020, the lender informs: “CCA-Bank informs its clients that the daily collection of funds is suspended until further notice. Therefore, the bank is not liable for any collections by individuals on its behalf, effective from the current release.”

The CCA was established in 1997. It, however, started operations the following year like a savings and loans cooperative. In 2001, it became a second-category microfinance institution and a bank in 2018.

Given its current status, CCA-Bank can therefore no longer collect funds in markets as it used to.
