On June 3, 2021, during the 146th session of the Commission for the Approval of Customs Litigation Files, the Commissioners reviewed 3,521 litigation cases submitted between January and May 2021.
During the period, the most repressed offenses were incorrect declaration of value and non-fulfillment of the commitment made in surety contracts.
At the end of their deliberations, the commissioners imposed XAF6.385 billion fines for the litigation cases reviewed. "Compared to January-May 2020, the January-May 2021 data reveals that there is an increase in compromised or evaded duties (+XAF1.567 billion), fines (XAF1.067 billion), and the number of cases (+406)," the commission indicates.
Let's note that for the whole of 2020, the commission reviewed 7,563 cases and imposed XAF12.553 billion fines. That year also, they recorded XAF9.885 billion of compromised or evaded duties but collected XAF5.641 billion.
