From December 11 to 17, Bafoussam will host the first edition of Rencontres d'échanges, de découvertes et d'exhibition de la région de l'Ouest (Redeo), a business forum aimed at attracting investments in the Western region. "For one week, the elite, the diaspora, development partners, and investors will exchange ideas on the opportunities offered by the region and celebrate the richness of this land,” reads the press release announcing the forum.
According to Conseil régional de l'Ouest, the organizer of the event, the forum will showcase and promote the economic, cultural, and tourist potential of the West region. For Jules Hilaire Focka Focka (photo), President of the Conseil Régional de l'Ouest, visitors are allowed to come and “conquer” the West, which is a “land of opportunities.”
The first edition of REDEO was supposed to be held in November 2022. Due to the World Cup that was scheduled for the same month, Conseil régional de l'Ouest changed the date. The argument provided was that it would be difficult to attract an audience given that the World Cup was likely to garner the attention of many and even the national team qualified for the final phase of the competition.
