In a communiqué issued on June 4, 2021, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of the Supreme State Control (CONSUPE), Mbah Acha Rose Fomundam, ordered 132 beneficiaries of pension arrears to contact her Ministry between June 15 and 18.
The communique follows an audit conducted by the CONSUPE at the Ministry of Finance (MINFI). While reviewing the pension arrears paid to servants, the CONSUPE identified several irregularities like multiple pension arrears paid to the same pensioners and the collection of arrears by servants who are supposed to have passed on.
The summon is issued two months after that issued by the MINFI, Louis Paul Motaze. Indeed, on April 28, 2021, the latter signed a statement inviting pensioners who received pension arrears but did not show up when they were summoned on September 10, 2020, to contact their banks’ headquarters in regional capitals from May 24 to July 16, 2021.
All these operations are the aftermath of the physical counting operation launched by the government in 2018 to consolidate its payroll. Thanks to that operation, the State identified and expunged over 10,000 fictitious servants from its payroll. That way, it saved XAF30 billion of annual salary expenditures.
