This year, the Cameroonian government announced it will invest a total of CFA1,404 billion in 10 major development projects. The figure represents about 30% of overall 2021 State budget.
CFA325.73 billion will serve for the construction of 503.3 kilometers of asphalt roads and 92.9 kilometers of surface-coated roads as well as the asphalting of 115.7 kilometers of highways, etc. CFA211.82 billion will go for improving the quality of education and school life in secondary schools, and the construction of 7 new high schools, 593 classrooms and the acquisition of 40,336 desks.
The universalization of primary education will receive CFA184.31 billion, the reinforcement of the defense of the national territory requires CFA128.31 billion. The rehabilitation, maintenance and upkeep of roads and other infrastructure will capture CFA124 billion. This includes the rehabilitation of 312 kilometers of main roads and the maintenance of 1,755 kilometers of priority rural roads and 445 kilometers of paved roads.
The improvement of energy supply (CFA92.89 billion) will be achieved through the electrification of 206 localities by solar photovoltaic systems, while access to drinking water and liquid sanitation will receive CFA92.87 billion for the equipment of 868 boreholes or the construction and rehabilitation of 107 drinking water supply networks.
The health sector will receive CFA90.80 billion, the secondary education will receive CFA90.20 billion while the minister of defense will receive CFA62.56 billion.
