Société des Eaux minérales du Cameroun (SEMC), a subsidiary of brewer SABC, announced it ended 2021 with a net profit of CFA872.6 million, 2.6 times the CFA331 million achieved in 2020.

The parent company revealed that its subsidiary sold 100 million liters of natural mineral water in 2021, 10% higher than in 2020. "This exceptional performance is the result of the strategy launched in 2017 by the new management team to win back consumer confidence," SABC said.

"The Société des Eaux minérales du Cameroun, which continues to follow its strategy to win its market share back returned to profitability in 2019 and 2020 with positive results. CFA331 million of profit in 2020 against CFA79 million in 2019,” the parent company informed.

According to internal sources, although exceptional, these results do not allow SABC to regain its leadership position lost in 2016. That year, SEMC was overshadowed in the mineral water segment by Source du pays. The company had a 36% market share compared to 52% for Source du pays.
