6,268 pensioners suspended for lack of supporting documents

As part of the actions to reorganize the State balance file initiated since 2018, Louis Paul Motaze, the Minister of Finance, revealed on 29 April in a press release that out of 7,780 pension beneficiaries in Cameroon, 6,268 were unable to produce, on 20 March, as agreed, supporting documents. That is, 81% of the pensioners targeted, in the category of presumed fraudsters.

“To ensure that the ongoing pandemic has not penalized some people on the one hand, and to avoid on the other hand that potential fraudsters continue to receive undue pensions, the 6,268 persons concerned as from the date of signing this press release are granted a final additional period which will expire on Friday, June 19, 2020, to file a copy of the deed awarding them the pension, in addition to a copy of the payslip or a copy of the related cash voucher, with the nearest general treasury,” the Minister of Finance said.

The Minister of Finance specifies that after the June 19 deadline, those who will not comply will simply be removed from the State's balance file and coercive measures to recover the sums already collected will then be taken against them.
