On February 4, the Head of State Paul Biya signed 26 decrees granting operating certificates to 26 security companies in Cameroon. One of those companies is "Camport PLC" registered in the department of Wouri in Douala.
For some people, that company is owned by Joshua Osih, vice-president of the main Cameroonian opposition party, Social Democratic Front (SDF). For others, this not the case.
Although the vice-president did not comment on the matter, through our research, we established that he is truly the owner of Camport PLC, one of the security companies authorized through the presidential decrees on February 4.
On Swissport’s website, we learnt that Camport PLC was founded in 2000 with Joshua Osih as its CEO. We also learnt that the company, which employs 77 people, is part of Swissport International Ltd. (based in Opfikon, near Zurich Airport, Switzerland)’s network and an aviation security provider.
Mr. Osih's company is also active in freight forwarding. To date, it has handled 4500 tons of cargo. Its partners are Aero Contractors Company of Nigeria, Air France, Arik Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Iberia - Lineas Aereas de Espana, Kenya Airways, etc.
