On September 12, 2023, President Paul Biya and his Central African peer Faustin-Archange Touadera met for over an hour at the presidency in Yaoundé. At the end of the meeting, no information was given on the matter discussed by the two Heads of State.
After leaving Yaoundé, Touadera flew to Paris, where he is due to meet French President Emmanuel Macron, today, to discuss the renewal of bilateral relations between France and the Central African Republic, as well as political developments in Gabon.
Faustin-Archange Touadera has been appointed by his peers in the sub-region as facilitator for the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), tasked with leading talks with the new Gabonese authorities with a view to an inclusive transition and a rapid return to constitutional order. In that view, the Gabon issue may have been one of the topics discussed by President Paul Biya and Faustin-Archange Touadera yesterday.
