In a fax signed on October 17, 2023, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, announced that President Paul Biya decided to organize an official funeral service for Alhadji Mohamadou Abbo Ousmanou. It will take place on October 19, 2023, in Ngaoundéré, the deceased's hometown and regional capital of Adamaoua. The Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, will represent the Head of State at the funeral.

The deceased left the earthly realms last October 13, in Turkey. He was 87 and one of Cameroon’s wealthiest businessmen.  He was also a member of the political bureau of the ruling party CPDM. A highly influential militant, the deceased was considered one of the party’s financiers. He was also the head of the CPDM permanent delegation in Adamaoua. 

Mahamadou Abbo is the 8th of the 23 members of the CPDM political bureau, the ruling party’s decision-making body.
