Filippo Scammacca del Murgo, the Italian ambassador to Cameroon appointed barely a month ago, was granted an audience by Prime Minister (PM), Joseph Dion Ngute, on November 17, 2021. During the audience, the ambassador presented the key points of his diplomatic mission in Cameroon.
"My goal is to continue to spur the economic, political, cultural and mutual understanding [between our two countries] as well as [develop] the expertise of the Cameroonian community living in Italy to make a strong contribution to our relations,” he told government daily Cameroon Tribune at the end of the audience.
He also acknowledged that the development of Cameroon-Italy relations is not dependent on only his person as a diplomat. “A diplomat is a bridge, a facilitator who can not do things alone. My aim is to pave the way as I can for investments in mutually valuable sectors in which we can create wealth and jobs as well as create new opportunities,” he explained.
"My ambition is to contribute to make Cameroon a rich country, which exports and imports also from Italy. It is already doing just that but I believe we can do much better,” he concluded.
