Cameroon Water Utilities (Camwater) and the University of Douala signed, yesterday, a framework agreement to find "quality human resources in various engineering fields" from the University of Douala’s Polytechnic School Enspd (Polytech Douala).
According to the water utility, the agreement allows Camwater to invite Enspd to take part in certain internal projects. It also commits the water utility to provide “support, within its means and whenever possible” for training and the organization of scientific and technological events at the University of Douala.
In addition, Camwater will be able to accept trainees from Enspd each year, according to its needs and capacities. The water utility says it will ensure that trainees are punctual and diligent in their work and that at the end of their internship, they will be issued an internship certificate, "subject to the production of a report validated by the professional supervisor."
For its part, Polytech Douala promises to abide by a rigorous selection process based on objective and transparent criteria that will ensure only the best applications reach Camwater and keep the water utility informed of training developments at the Enspd.
The agreement also gives Polytech Douala the opportunity to take part in the design and implementation of some projects, at Camwater’s request, and contribute to the enhancement of the skills of Camwater’s agents.
"Enspd will serve as an optimal platform for the retraining of Camwater's operational staff, aligning with the company's personnel development policy. These are just a few of the promising prospects awaiting graduates from this distinguished school affiliated with the University of Douala,” Camwater says.
