The Western Regional Council led by its president, Jules Hilaire Focka Focka, met on April 22, 2021, to elaborate its strategic development plan. The aim of this meeting, which is at its fifth edition, is to provide this decentralized territorial authority with a "real development compass."
Various partners such as UN-Habitat, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the National Program for Participatory Development (PNDP), and the University of Dschang were invited to this meeting.
During the meeting, consulting firm PwC presented the framework document and the participants unanimously decided that the strategic development plan will be based on the National Development Strategy (SND 2020-2030), which is the reference framework for the State's action over the 2020-2030 period.
Specifically, "the plan being finalized will help enhance the development of regional resources, including tourism, crafts, and agribusiness," the briefing note issued at the end of the meeting informs.
At the end of the meeting, two technical and steering committees were set up to better monitor the implementation of the project.
