The Rector of the University of Yaoundé II-Soa, Prof. Adolphe Minkoa She (pictured), inaugurated the research chair "Health and globalization, norms, policies, market" and appointed Prof. Germain Ntono Tsimi as the chair holder on May 28.

"The Health and Globalization chair is not a training chair, but rather a thematic research chair. In this sense, it is a tool for promoting a discipline or emerging knowledge as well as a kind of interface between the academic and socio-economic world. Its function is to encourage the transmission of knowledge and the promotion of research," explains Professor Adolphe Minkoa She.

The rector specifies that this chair covers the field of law, political science, management, international relations, communication sciences, etc. The main recipients of its activities will be students in the research cycle, young researchers, young doctors, and especially the professional community and public authorities.

"The research chair marks an important step in achieving the objectives of the rector to make the University of Yaoundé II a technopole of social sciences in Africa," we learn.

This state university has adopted a strategic development plan 2021-2025 presented in December 2020. Its implementation will require an investment of CFA154 billion.

According to the Directorate of Infrastructure and Development Planning, the project includes the construction of a social campus, including a university residence of 20,000 beds, two three-star hotels with a conference center, and two university restaurants. There will also be a 3,000-seat library, a dean's office, a thesis room, a research center, a student tutorial room, etc. In June 2020, a similar project was the subject of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Yaoundé II and the American firm Elite Trends Group (ETG).
