Yakum Kevin Teuvih, the Fon (Paramount Chief) of Bambalang, Chairman of the House of Chiefs of the North-West Regional Council and Vice-Chairman of the said Council, is finally free after over a year in captivity. Although the exact circumstances surrounding his release remain unknown, rumor has it that the army may have conducted an operation to secure his freedom. The Fon de Bambalang was kidnapped in December 2021 by a separatist militia.

The release of this prominent regional official follows the recent surrender of Shina Rambo, a leader of the separatist militia, whose real name is Sylvester Mbashie and is believed to be the brother of Clément Mbashie, a well-known separatist leader widely recognized as "General No Pity".

The kidnapping of the Vice-Chairman of the North-West Regional Council had been claimed by the "Marines of Bambalang," the militia under the command of "General No Pity."
