The General Delegation for National Security (GDNS) recorded 7,303 cases of road accidents in 2020, according to figures from the Ministry of Justice. In detail, the number includes 5,144 material accidents, 1,652 cases of personal injury, and 487 deadly accidents. 3,043 people were injured in personal injury accidents and 594 others died.

In its report, the Ministry of Justice revealed that to reduce the number of road accidents, the GDNS has "prioritized preventive policing in terms of traffic offenses. This strategy has materialized through awareness-raising campaigns among drivers by the regional groups of public roads and traffic.”
