Ministry of Transport institutes compulsory face masks for public transport users

Paru le mardi, 07 avril 2020 17:01

Users of any mass transportation mode are now required to wear face masks before accessing vehicles, said the Minister of Transport Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe.

This measure, enforceable from April 8, 2020, till further notice, is part of the government’s measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The official thus asks all administrations and institutions under their authority, transport operators, regional and departmental transport representatives, and law enforcement agencies to ensure the strict application of the said measure.

This new measure complements the others already issued by the government in the mass transit sectors. The said measures are namely the disinfection of transport vehicles, the requirement of hydro-alcoholic products on board, the reduction of the number of passengers on board taxis at any time to 4 and 50 for intercity buses. Failure to comply with these measures exposes the culprit to legal penalties.
