Cameroon to develop a platform to process complaints against national police

The General Delegation for National Security (DGSN) currently seeks a consultant for the development of a digital platform that will help process users’ complaints against the police. For that purpose, it published a tender call via the government daily, Cameroon Tribune.

The selected consultant will develop a platform that will automate the management of the said complaints, the tender call explains.

The project (launched thanks to the technical and financial assistance of the German cooperation) is part of a large program aimed at boosting the capacities of the Cameroonian police and its ability to implement targeted reforms.

It is expected to contribute, with transparency, professionalism, and civil-mindedness to regional and national stability while consolidating the population’s trust in the national police.

For the time being, user complaints are submitted through the toll-free number 1500. Through that number, they can report police harassment, give useful information or call for help. The national police also have standard numbers through which users can check the status of their National Identity Card.
