In six months, Cameroon has recorded 19,604 cases of coronavirus. As of September 3, 2020, 18,448 patients have recovered, and 414 others died. The country has 742 active cases, including 87 hospitalized patients. This represents 94.1% of the recovery rate compared to 2.1% of the fatality rate and 2.7% of the bed occupancy rate.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, 145 health districts, out of the 190 in the country, have registered at least one case of Covid-19. This means 76.3% of the health districts are affected.

According to Dr. Alain Georges Etoundi Mballa, Head of the Department for the Control of Disease, Epidemics, and Pandemics at the Ministry of Public Health, Cameroon has already entered the fourth operational phase of the fight against the coronavirus. This phase presents risks of a new outbreak of Covid-19 if safety measures continue to be neglected. “During the fourth operational phase of the fight against Covid-19 which has just begun, let us remain focused on the need to ensure a safe recovery of social, economic, and cultural life while preserving the health of the population, he said.
