The Yaoundé VI city hall announced the disbursement of CFA20 million to acquire embroidered hooded tracksuits and sports shoes for its staff. A call for tenders was issued on September 6 in this regard.
The acquisition, launched as an "emergency procedure", targets SMEs under Cameroonian law with proven experience in the field, the document said. It is financed with the Yaoundé IV 2022 budget. The head of communications at City Hall did not comment when asked for more details.
Last February, the mayor's office raised criticism after issuing a call for tenders to buy 2,000 loincloths for Women's Day for CFA17 million or CFA8,500 each.
