Cameroon Strategizes for Top Ten All-Africa Games Finish

Paru le lundi, 11 mars 2024 12:09

Cameroon aims for a top-ten finish at the ongoing 13th All-Africa Games in Accra, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (Minsep) announces. This ambition is not far-fetched, considering Cameroon’s 11th-place finish at the previous games in Rabat, Morocco in 2019.

To realize this objective, Minsep has primarily focused on athletes who have previously won African medals. To concentrate resources, Cameroon has opted to participate in only eight of the 30 disciplines scheduled for this year’s games.

Among these disciplines, there are high hopes for the men’s volleyball team, the reigning champions from the Rabat games, to defend their title. The women’s handball team, who were silver medalists in 2019, are also expected to perform well.

In addition to focusing on disciplines with the best medal prospects, Minsep has closely monitored the athletes’ preparation.
