Cameroon's incumbent mobile operator, Camtel, issued a statement on Wednesday explaining the reasons for the recent disruptions on its Internet network.

"We have observed some disruptions on our network over the past few days. We have also noticed a cut in the land part of our fiber optic cable. This is another act of vandalism," the operator said. As a reminder, Camtel reported acts of vandalism on its facilities in March 2020 and December 2021.

While the company talks about a few days, many of its consumers say that the internet has been disrupted for several months. Some even say that the situation is so recurrent that they are now used to Camtel's poor internet quality.
