Cameroon now requires coronavirus test results for entry visas

Paru le vendredi, 13 mars 2020 12:53

For Cameroonian visa requests, applicants should now provide the results of the Covid-19 test among the required documentation. This was ordered in a fax message Lejeune Mbella Mbella (photo), Minister of External Relations, sent to Cameroon’s embassies, high commissions and consulates abroad, on March 12, 2020.

The diplomatic representations are also advised to check the authenticity of every test submitted to avoid flaws in the measure.

According to the fax message, the measure is initiated to contain the importation of the coronavirus, which is currently affecting more than a hundred countries, worldwide, Cameroon included.

Days ago, the Minister of Public Health Malachie Manaouda indicated that two cases have been confirmed. They include a 58-year-old Franco-Cameroonian, who has been living in France for 34 years now, and his partner.

The two cases have been quarantined at the central hospital of Yaoundé since March 6. According to the director of that health facility, their condition has significantly improved and they could be released within two weeks if the verification tests prove negative.
