A dust storm looms over the northern regions

Cameroon’s Weather Department (DMN) announced Wednesday that "significant quantities of dust are expected to blow over the Far North, North, and Adamaoua regions over the next two days.” The department explained that the storm originates from the "strengthening of the northeastern trade winds that is currently observed in the northern parts of the country."

“The inhabitants of these areas are increasingly exposed to respiratory infections," DMN said, recommending that they wear masks and drink more water. As a reminder, the weather department has already warned about this dust storm a weak ago saying it will bring "a dry air and a foggy atmosphere.” Following the latest rains, which fell in some areas a few days ago, the country has entered the great dry season, which is expected to last until the beginning of March.
