Cameroon acquires 198,400 additional doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

Cameroon received 198,400 new doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. "These are 5ml bottles of 10 doses each, at a rate of 0.5 ml per dose and stored at a temperature of +2°C - +8°C. They are administered according to a two-dose schedule with an interval of at least 8 weeks," according to the Expanded Program on Immunization.

On November 10, Cameroon launched a mass vaccination campaign for government employees and retirees. Another campaign targeting people over 18 years of age will start tomorrow 17 November. In April, Cameroon received 391,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through the Covax initiative, which plans to send 1,200,000 doses of the vaccine overall. 5 million people are expected to be vaccinated by the end of 2021, and 15 million by 2022. As of November 10, 428,415 people (3.1%) received a dose and 173,372 people (1.2%) were fully vaccinated, according to official data.

Data released on November 11 by the Public health Ministry revealed that Cameroon has recorded 106,190 cases of Covid-19 and 1,770 deaths.
