The Bertoua City Hall has recruited about 60 young people for sanitation work across the city. The contract will last 6 months with a monthly salary of CFA60,000, according to Cameroon Tribune.

The recruitment was done under the Urban Special Employment Program (USEP), launched by the government and implemented by the National Employment Fund (FNE). The USEP was launched to fight unemployment and facilitate job access for young people, who have been hit hard by the Covid-induced economic crisis. “It is aimed at creating local jobs through High labor intensive (HIMO) activities in Cameroon's cities while contributing to the sanitation and improvement of the public environment," says the FNE.

The program targets jobless people registered with the FNE who have the needed attitudes and physical abilities for the activities to be carried out. They should also reside in the municipalities concerned. People aged between 15 and 35 are particularly targeted.
