Professor Jean Claude Tchouankeu, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Yaoundé 1, issued a statement on March 11, 2022, encouraging graduates to pick up their diplomas.
He notably invited "former students from the 1970s to 1990s," whose "diplomas (are) pending in the services of the Division of Academic Affairs," writes the dean.
Such situations happen mainly because some faculties, universities, and colleges take years to issue diplomas to their graduates whose registrations to foreign academic institutions are delayed or even canceled when the required diplomas are not presented.
To solve this problem, in September 2021, the ad hoc technical commission in charge of diplomas issues at the Ministry of Higher Education (Minesup) suggested the eight state universities and academic institutions under their jurisdictions should systematically deliver diplomas to students who complete their training courses.
