The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in its latest situation report that despite spending $125.8 million (XAF82.5 billion), a significant shortfall of 69% remains against the required XAF267 billion.

Scarcity of funding led to reductions in humanitarian assistance across the entire national territory, OCHA said, highlighting the critical situation in several regions.

Extreme Needs in Conflict Zones

The Far North region, bordering Nigeria and plagued by Boko Haram attacks, faces an "extreme" humanitarian crisis. OCHA estimates that 1.6 million people there require assistance.

Similar concerns exist in parts of the North-West and South-West regions, where separatist violence continues. Departments like Menchum, Donga-Mantung, and Koupe-Manengouba experience "extreme" humanitarian needs due to ongoing atrocities.

East Region Sees Refugee Influx

The East region, while less critical, grapples with an influx of refugees from the Central African Republic (CAR). OCHA reports they face "protection risks, gender-based violence, exploitation and abuse," along with limited access to basic services and livelihoods.
