The Minister of Sports and Physical Education (Minsep), Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, President of the Local Organizing Committee of the African Championship of Nations (CHAN) 2021 and the African Cup of Nations (AfCON) 2022, paid a satisfactory working visit to the sports complex of Olembé in Yaoundé on Tuesday, September 22.

According to CRTV radio, the 60,000-seat stadium is almost operational, the presidential tribune is almost completed and the athletics track is only waiting for the tartan to be laid in the coming days. The lighting masts for the annex stadiums 1 and 2 have already been fixed.

Talks are currently underway with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to use these two stadiums as training grounds for the teams during the CHAN scheduled for January 16 to February 7, 2021.

The Canadian company Magil, which took over construction works on the Olembé stadium site after the Italian Piccini group's contract was terminated, says the delivery deadlines set for October 2020 will be met.
