Cameroon expects additional 8,000 tons of gas

Following the reception of 4,000 tons of gas on October 20, the Port of Douala is expecting twice that volume by tomorrow. The information was made public by Véronique Moampea Mbio, Head of the Cameroon Petroleum Depot Company (SCDP), to reassure the population in this gas scarcity context.

According to her, about 128,000 gas cylinders (12 kg capacity) will be made available to the market thanks to this delivery. "We will probably go beyond the 128,000 since we will work overtime given the situation. We can fill 35 to 40 tankers per day, but exceptionally, we will reach 50, “she said.

For several weeks, Cameroon has been facing a shortage of domestic gas, the umpteenth after the one in August. Business in Cameroon said the gas shortage is due, in addition to the current global crisis, to the low handling capacity of the port of Douala, which does not allow gas carriers to dock.
