The East Needs XAF826 Billion for 1,400+ km Road Projects This Year (MINTP)

This year, the East region needs XAF826 billion to finance 11 road projects totaling 1,400 kilometers. The estimate is presented in the Ministry of Public Works’ document which lists the various road projects to be funded this year. 

The road projects to be funded in the East include the 139-km Abong Mbang-Mindourou-Ampel-Lomié road, including the Lomié and Abong Mbang bypass, whose cost is estimated at XAF178.08 billion. There is also the 293-km road between Abong Mbang and Mbalam, whose estimated cost is XAF175 billion. 

Other projects include the construction of the Yokadouma-Congo border section (221 km) of the Batouri-Yokadouma-Moloundou road, at an estimated cost of XAF110 billion and the Ngoura-Yokadouma section (173 km, with costs estimated at XAF164 billion) of the Batouri-Maloundou road project.

Other projects include asphalting the 90 km Ngoura-Central African border road "including the Kentzou bypass" for XAF99 billion, renovating the 245 km of road between Bertoua and Garoua-Boulaï for XAF73 billion, building the over 72-km long Belabo-Lom Pangar road for XAF43 billion, and renovating the 80 km Belabo-Bertoua road for XAF26 billion.

There is also the construction of six bridges (total length: 1,210 meters) at an estimated cost of XAF79 billion.
