Maroua, the capital of the Far North region, remains relatively peaceful despite recent Boko Haram attacks in other localities in the region. A journalist based in the capital reported that although the population has enough reasons to panic, they remain calm.
As a reminder, a military vehicle was the target of an attack in Bavongola on April 24. These are all terrorist acts that remind the populations of the Far North region of the dark years (between 2014 and 2017) when attacks by the Islamic sect Boko Haram were almost regular.
The department of Mayo-Tsanaga is the locality where the majority of the latest atrocities committed by Boko Haram have taken place. To tackle the issue, the government has decided to reinforce security in the entire Far North region.
