Earlier today, two guys, aged 19 and 22, died on a building site in the Nkolbong district of Douala. According to the governor of the Littoral region, who visited the scene of the tragedy, the two young men "were working on a wall that presented some dangers.” They were hired to work on the site and decided to build the retaining wall. Unfortunately, the wall collapsed and they were gobbled by the sand above the wall, Governor Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua explained.

This is the second such tragedy in the Nkolbong district of Douala 3 this year. On the night of July 22/23, a four-story building collapsed on its occupants, leaving dozens dead and injured.

For Governor Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, "if there's one district [where residents] should be afraid of collapses, it's Douala 3 because the terrain lends itself” to such events.  He, therefore, invites all those living in ravines such as the one where the tragedy occurred today to leave for other places.
