François Marc Modzom, the new director of the Advanced School of Mass Communication (Esstic) recently instituted a dress code that would become effective as of the start of the new academic year. In a press release issued today, the director announced that "...jeans, polo-shirts, ripped-out clothes, short skirts, close-fitting clothes, jogging suits, and slippers [are] strictly forbidden, as are extravagant hairstyles of unnatural colors, false eyelashes, false nails, and extravagant piercings."
The director, who is keen on ensuring that the new "dress and behavior code (reflects) the respectability of the school," indicates that the codes will be formally completed during the not-yet-scheduled freshmen welcome ceremony.
This dress code was instituted after another advanced school (the National Advanced School of Engineering of Yaounde-ENSPY) issued its code in early September 2023. Prof. Raoul Domingo Ayissi, director of the ENSPY, banned several extravagant outfits and defined what can be considered an acceptable dress code for the coming academic year.
