Yesterday June 29, the regional delegation of the Ministry of Commerce (Mincommerce) for the East organized a promotional sale of consumer products (vegetable oils, rice, sugar, soap, pasta ...). The operation will be repeated every Wednesday for a month, we learned.
It aims "to mitigate the shock suffered by households following the increase in prices due to the global context," said Marcelin Ngah Nomo, Head of fraud control in the East region. The initiative was launched in many cities across the country. The government wants to help households obtain basic foodstuffs at a lower cost. The inflation, which started with the Covid-19 pandemic, was aggravated by the Russia-Ukraine war. For example, refined oil, which until a few months ago was sold at between CFA1,100 and CFA1,200 per liter, now costs CFA1,500 or even CFA1,700.
