From August 11 to 13, 2023, a seasonal malaria chemoprevention campaign organized by the regional public health delegation for the Far North region treated 946,006 children aged 3 to 59 months, according to a UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) report. The campaign was carried out in the region's 32 health districts.

The data contained in the document indicates that 42,744 people were sensitized on the adoption of healthy behaviors, 7,214 cases of uncomplicated malaria were managed in several localities, and around 54 malaria-related deaths were reported across the region during August.

"In the Minawao refugee camp, 11,095 curative consultations were carried out, 567 children were vaccinated through the routine Expanded Program on Immunization, and 194 pregnant women received guidance and counseling as well as HIV testing as part of the prevention of mother-to-child transmission," reads the report.
