Cameroonian customs seized a shipment of 1,640 phones smuggled into the country, as part of the HALCOMI 3 (Halt illicit trade) in Ngaoundéré. This seizure, carried out on the Garoua-Ngaoundéré road between last August 27 and 28, also includes 140 packages of non-biodegradable plastics and 1,700 pallets of soft drinks.

The shipment was supposed to be fresh dates and kola nuts according to the documents presented by the smugglers, the customs bureau told Cameroon Tribune.

As a reminder, in November 2021, the Halt illicit trade operation resulted in the seizure of 10,623 phones smuggled from Nigeria. This shipment was valued at more than CFA10 million.
